Activities & Links
There’s a whole host of sporting pursuits available on our doorstep, amid some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK.
The Scottish Borders has 21 golf courses and there are plenty more just over the border in England. Some of our favourites include the course at Eyemouth with its famous 6th hole overlooking the North Sea cliffs and the championship Roxburghe course.
We can also arrange for golfing at a true links course at the Goswick Golf Club near Berwick-upon-Tweed or at many of Scotland’s more famous courses. For golfing info see www.scot-borders.co.uk/golfbreaks
If angling is your passion, then bear in mind we are just a mile from the Whiteadder which is regarded as one of Scotland’s premiere brown trout rivers. Fishing licenses can be arranged.

For the walker, The Scottish Borders has several long distance hiking trails including The Southern Upland Way, St. Cuthbert's Way, the Borders Abbeys Way and the Pennine Way. All of these are within easy reach of The Waterloo Arms. A publication available from the Borders Tourist Board at www.scot-borders.co.uk details 25 additional walking routes. Locally there are a number of scenic footpaths. If you are a long distance hiker, we can arrange transportation for your excess gear or non-hiking companions to your next overnight accommodations. Boxed lunches are also available. |
